Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and clean offer the convenience of cleaning dry and wet messes in one go, without having to switch devices. They can also save space compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacles avoidance. Look for models that have docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, replenish their water tanks, and wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the simplest robots to install that we've tested. Unpacking is simple and the quick-start manual gets you up and running in no time with the complete dust bag, water tank and a hard floor solution.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. The mops spin at fast speeds and apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of dirt, pet hair and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a variety of brushes and attachments as well as an intuitive app that lets you choose the type of cleaning you want for each room.
For instance, you could opt for the robot to take care of a thorough clean-up in the kitchen and living rooms but take it easy in the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation technology are superb, with the robot being capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. Its only drawback is that it can smash into walls and other objects at full speed. However, an instant glance at the cleaning history within the app will show you exactly what it's doing, where it's going and the obstacles it's avoided.
The docking station has an LCD display that indicates the time when maintenance is required, such as emptying debris and cleaning the dirty water tank. It also mixes detergent into the water tank in a controlled manner with a 600ml of eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long running time. The mop can operate for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode, and the vacuum can last 136 mins in standard mode, before having to recharge or returning to the base. You can also view the entire cleaning information in the app, which is well laid out and is easy to comprehend although we would have liked to be able distinguish between a vacuum only or mop and vacuum clean when examining a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop, is the newest version. It's not like the model from last year, this one features a double agitator in its mopping pad which significantly improves its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity that allows it to remove smaller hairs as well as other debris other robotic cleaners might miss.
This Roborock model, like the other two I tested, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it get around obstacles like walls, furniture, and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates a dual-camera that can identify objects, determining if they are walls or other surfaces. It is able to change its direction automatically and clean around them without missing a step.
This is the most expensive of the three models I've examined, however, it's also the most feature-packed. Its sleek, angular design is striking and only has three physical buttons which include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can send the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank is self-emptying and the bin auto-refilling.
The only issue I encountered in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if it's required) however, it's a hassle to remove the mount for manual washing. I've noticed that any plush carpet that the robot passes will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and that can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of smart features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can manage and set up these through the Roborock app which is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you schedule cleanings and track the battery's lifespan. However, you'll have to go through a few hoops in order to enable voice control with this model which is a pity considering the performance of this model.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is an industry leader with cutting-edge features, high suction power, and advanced mowing abilities. Its innovative design lets users to tailor and effectively clean while saving time.
The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the most effective alternatives available. This powerful vacuum can clean up pet hair dust, crumbs and any other dry messes. It also comes with a top-quality mop that leaves hard floors spotlessly clean, even with a wet pad. The X40 is also extremely quiet when in operation, with only occasional bursts during mode changes or self-maintenance.
Another notable feature is the X40's extendable and liftable side brush, which allows it to get into difficult-to-access corners as well as clean curved furniture like table and chair legs. autonomous vacuum allows the robot to reach under furniture with a low profile which makes it a great option for apartments or condos with limited space. The side brush automatically tilts down when it spots wet spots. This is a wonderful feature that enables the X40 to avoid damaging floors by repeated back-and-forth movements.
Contrary to other robots, which are limited to one task, the X40 can mop and vacuum at the same time. It can also be programmed to avoid areas that have carpet and only mop hard floors or vice versa. It can be controlled through the Dreame app or with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for a seamless voice-controlled operation.
The app is intuitive and user-friendly, and the X40's smart features are simple to set up. Users can program the X40 for cleaning at specific times. They can also adjust suction power, alter modes, look at maps and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress and notify you when it is finished.
The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with numerous features that make it a great option for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the trash bin into a 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, then refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It also can detect if the mop pad is at its maximum capacity and notify you of the situation before it overflows.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's one of the most expensive on the market however, it comes with many additional features that set it apart. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub that uses two high-speed mops to clean floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and it has the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also remove pet hair, small dirt particles and pick up spills and dirt-stained spots.
The mops are cleaned and dried in the base station every time they are used. This is a great feature because it prevents the growth of odours and mould in the storage area, and it also makes the mop system a lot more efficient. This is a feature we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuums and mop models and could be a good way of keeping your home hygienic for longer.
There are a lot of options, including the ability to schedule cleanings and adjust preferences. They can be set through the app or there are buttons that can be found on the device itself. The app is easy to use and offers many options for customizing the cleaning routine, and there are many functions that other robots don't include, such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically boosts suction power when it detects dust particles instead of using a manual setting.
The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen on market, with metallic and white colors that looks classy and sophisticated. It's a little heavier than some of the other two-in-one robots on this list - at around 4kg however it's not overly heavy, and it is sturdy and well-built. The mopping system is also well-designed and the double-rotating mop is a great choice for hard floors or in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them reach even 2mm below the baseboards.
